February 2005

Thursday 10 February - AT&T Pebble Beach - 72 (Even)
A solid start to the week with a level par 72 around the magnificent Pebble Beach. There is a little less Pebble this week, with a huge chunk of the 18th having recently fallen into the ocean! My putter was cool, if not quite cold today, but I made birdies on 6, the short 7th, 12 and then 18. It felt good to birdie 18 and this moved me to the middle of the pack with 2 rounds to go before the 3 round cut. The format is a pro am this week and my partner and I had fun out there in cool weather. I am playing Spyglass Hill on Friday and this is a golf course I need to make a good score on to move forward. Catch up tomorrow, Per

Saturday 12 February - AT&T Pebble Beach - 76, 73

I am writng this after finishing my round at Poppy Hills. I played better today with a 73, 3 shots better than yesterdays round at Spyglass Hill. I never really got going at Spyglass and around the turn, 3 bogeys in a row at 9, 10 and 11 was not what I needed to get my confidence going. The weather was certainly better on the Monterey Peninsula today and despite a poor start with bogey on 2 and double on 3, I pulled it together with eagle on 10 and birdie on 11 to turn in a respectable score. After the 3 round cut I was on the wrong side of the line and so we are now going to head to Phoenix to practice and a week off. I will then play Tucson, where I have had good results before. I have to tough it out and keep tring my best and hopefully at Tucson I can turn a corner and get the season back on track. See you there, Per

Wednesday 23 February - Tucson National, Chrysler Classic of Tucson
Well the weather is better than California here and we are playing golf, which is more than can be said for the West Coast! The tee times are just out and I am playing from the 1st tee at 8.09 with Danny Briggs and Spike McRoy. I had a good event here in 2004 with 4 rounds in the 60s - 65, 69, 69, 68, so I have good memories of playing well. I am looking forward to the week and staying nearby with my roomie for the week, Richard Johnson. I'll catch up with you after the round on Thursday. Bye for now, Per.

Monday 28 February - Tucson National, Chrysler Classic of Tucson

I am back in Florida after unfortunately missing the cut in Tucson by a couple of shots. I shot 70 in round one and 71 in round 2 for -3. That was too many and I headed back to the East coast. My game is close, but not quite there and with 4 events left in my medical extension, I need to choose events carefully to maximise my earnings potential. My family is over from Sweden with us on vacation this week in West Palm, so we are looking forward to a fun week in the sunshine. I will continue practicing hard down the road at Medalist golf club and hope to be out there on Tour again soon. Unfortunately, I didn't get into the Honda Classic, which is a shame as the event is played 5 miles down the road from us! Catch up soon, Per
