August 2005

Monday 1 August - Scandinavian Masters, Kungsangen, Stockholm - 76, 67
A case of bad and good. I really didn't play too badly on Saturday in shooting 76, things just didn't go my way and I couldn't pull it back after a poor start. One of those days, I guess. I was pleased with my final round of 67, on a course that was playing much easier than normal due to the poor weather and a subsequent reduction in length. This pulled me up 10 spots to around 60th and gives me some confidence going into next week in Omaha. I will be back on the Nationwide Tour for a couple of weeks before, hopefully getting into the Reno PGA TOUR stop. Catch up with you after my long haul from Sweden to Nebraska, Per

Monday 15 August - Nationwide Tour Update
I have been out on the Nationwide Tour for the last two weeks and unfortunately I haven't got any good news to report. I haven't played too badly, but I really think this is the toughest Tour in the world. The scoring is incredible with guys shooting 60 and even a 59, by Jason Gore. And this on courses that are not easy. I have shot round of 72, 71, 71 and 71 over my last 4 rounds and that doesn't get it done on the Nationwide Tour. This week I am back on the PGA TOUR at one of my favourite events, The Reno Tahoe Open. Played at Montreux Golf and Country Club this is a really great place to play golf. Jill and Stella are here with me and I am looking forward to being back on the main Tour. I'll be updating each day and hope to make a move up the Tour Money list with a good performance. Catch up later, Per

Thursday 18 August - Reno-Tahoe Open - 75 ( +3)
A real mixed bag today with too many bogeys on the card. Starting from the 10th I was off to a good start with a birdie 3, but gave it back with bogey on 12. I was out in level par around the terrific Montreux golf course, however a double and a bogey on 3 and 4 put me behind the 8 ball. I dropped another couple coming in but managed to birdie the paar 5 9th to come back in 39 and shoot 75. This leaves me some work to do in my morning round on Friday - I need to shoot in the 60s and I will be around for the weekend. We are enjoying this great resort and highly recommend a trip to Reno if you want to have some fun. Let's hope the golf if more fun today! Catch up later, Per

Friday 19 August - Reno-Tahoe Open - 67 ( -5)
A good solid days work today. I made the cut, which after round 1 was the immediate job in hand. I struck the ball nicely all day and despite having 29 putts I shot 67 to finish the 2 rounds in the red numbers at -2. I was especially pleased with my finish of 3 birdies in the last 4 holes to put any doubt of the cut behind me. I hit alot of greens today, which is one reason I had so many putts - but in the end I made a few good ones form 5 to 20 feet, so no complaints. After the round I hit a few balls and headed off for dinner with Jill and Stella. There is a large Swedish contingent here this week and that always makes it fun. Catch up later - looking forward to a good weekend and a goal of top 10, Per

Monday 22 August: Weekend at The Reno Tahoe Open - 70 (-2), 69 (-3)

A very solid weekend in beautiful Reno with scores of 70 and 69 moving me up the leaderboard to tied 27th. As all golfers say after a round, it could have been better and I certainly left several shots out on the course. I struck the ball well for the last 3 rounds and this was my 3rd cut made in a row on the PGA TOUR. It certainly seems to be a whole lot harder to make a cut on the so called secondary tour, sponsored by Nationwide. I made a check for around $20,000, which held my position in the Order of Merit at 200th. I need to have a strong finish to the season and try and make the top 150 as a minimum, to avoid the 2nd stage of Tour School in November. I am going back to the Nationwide this week and the Cleveland event. I'll leave on Wednesday morning and have a walk around the course during the Pro-Am. I needed to spend a day off from travelling and recharge my batteries at home. Catch up later in the week, Per
