September 2004

Wednesday 8 September - Toronto

JIll, Stella and I are here in Toronto for the Canadian Open. My hip is still not 100%, but I really wanted to play up here. Our home in West Palm was also in the middle of Hurricane Frances, so there is no power or water yet back on. We were lucky, our home came through reletively unscathed. Today, despite the rain I played a few holes and the course here at Glen Abbey is playing well. I have an early tee time on Thursday, but suspect that it will be pushed back because of weather. I hope to be back on TOUR for a few weeks and will be updating the diary on a daily basis once again. Catch up after the round on Thursday, Bye for now, Per

Thursday 9 September - Glen Abbey, Canadian Open, 73 (+2)
After five months away from competitive PGA TOUR golf, I have to be reasonably happy wth a two over par 73. My half of the field had the worst of the waether, but that is just the luck of the draw. I was off to a fast start ( if you exclude the 5 hour rain delay!) with a birdie at the 10th. I played solid golf for a half dozen holes before I started losing shots to the right. I had a poor spell around the turn and dropped a few before pulling one back on the front nine par 5. I can certainly sleep in on Friday, because my tee time, revised because of the weather will be in the late afternoon. It feels great to be back and my hip felt ok. I think my score will put me in the middle of the pack and in need of a solid round on Friday to play the weekend. I plan on playing next week too. Catch up later, Per

Friday/Saturday 10/11 September - Glen Abbey, Canadian Open, 76 (+5)
A 2 day post because we didn't get finished on Friday. I had a few holes to go when the darkness descended and unfortunately I left myself alot to do when coming back at 7.30a.m on Saturday. It was not to be as I added another couple of bogeys and ended up shooting 76 to miss the cut. It has been a good test this week for my hip and I feel sufficiently good to move on to Texas for the Valero Open. I can still feel some pain, but hopefully it will continue to get better as I continue my physiopherapy. Jill and I are off later today to San Antonio and the great La Cantera resort. Catch up with you all from there, Per

Sunday 19 September - Valero Texas Open - 77, 70
We are back in West Palm after a disappointing couple of rounds at LaCantera Golf Club. The first round was really the killer for me. I made a couple of ugly doubles and on this course, with players shooting the lights out, I was in bad shape from the beginning. Over the two rounds I actually made tons of birdies, but with bogeys and double littering the card it was a trunk slam for me on Friday. The good news is that once we arrived home we saw our house has survived the hurricane well and we had only lost a few trees. I now have a couple of weeks off and will continue my rehab on my hip before hopefully getting out to play at least another couple of TOUR events. I'll catch up with you once I know my schedule. Bye for now, Per
