November 2002
Friday November 1 - Southern Farm Bureau Classic, 2nd Round,
67 (-5)
A much better day today and a solid round of 67, which included
my official first hole in one on the PGA TOUR. Starting from
the 10th tee I was off to a good start with a birdie on the
par five 11th. Standing on the 15th tee, with a 7 iron in
my hand I was trying to put a good swing on it. I struck it
well and watched in delight as it rolled in to the cup for
an ace. That moved me to -3 for the day and with another birdie
on 18 I was out n 32. An up and down back nine followed with
bogies on 2 and 5. I bounced back well from these with birdies
on 3, 6 and 7. This gave me a score of 67 and I moved back
into contention in 23rd place. I'm looking forward to a good
weekend and a top position is in reach if I keep playing as
well as today. After the round Jill and I went to see Jackass,
the movie. It's enough to put you off your dinner - there
are some really gross stunts in there! Thanks for all the
emails. Catch up on Saturday night after the round, Per
Saturday November 2 - Southern Farm Bureau Classic, 3rd
Round, 70 (-2)
It was 42 degrees this morning when we got up….Brrr!!! It
got warmer as the day went on but I don't think it ever got
above 60. I played well today, made some really good par puts
and missed some short birdie putts. Going the whole way round
without a bogey on any course is an achievement - I would
have liked to add to my birdies on 5 and 18, but I am in good
shape to make the top 20 and the goal on Sunday is a 68. The
Money List will take care of itself with one more solid round
of golf. After warming down, Jill and I are heading out to
the movies again - for the third day in a row. I think we
have only been to 2 movies all year before this week! - we're
making up for lost time! Catch up with you all once we are
back home - Bye for now, Per
Sunday November 3 - Southern Farm Bureau Classic
It rained this morning when we drove to the course and didn't
stop. As I said earlier in the week if it rained hard the
event was going to be struggling to finish - so it has turned
out to be. I only played 3 holes and having found the bunker
on 1st hole with my tee shot I made an early bogey. The bunkers
are almost unplayable in the rain. The are filling up fast.
At 1 pm the Tour officials told us that they thought the rain
wouldn't stop until late. So we all headed back for another
unexpected night in the hotel. On Monday we will need to be
in position on the golf course to start agian by 7.30am So,
we went to another movie! Sweet Home Alabama, which was ok
to kill a couple of hours, but not great. Then off to dinner
with Brett and Amy Quigley and Mike Sposa. That was good fun!
I think we are all looking forward to playing and getting
back home. Let's hope we all can finish tomorrow. I really
want to play to move up the leaderboard. Catch up on Monday!,

Monday November 4 - Southern Farm Bureau Classic
Well, unfortunately we never had the chance to go back onto
the course after another rainy night here in Madison. So my
3 rounds proved good enough to earn a cheque and finish the
year in 121st on the money list. Not where I was hoping for
as the year began, but it means I am in gainful employment
in 2003 and have a solid base on which to build. It's been
an up and down year on the course and I have some work to
do in the close season before it all starts again in January.
I'll continue updating the site periodically including the
"best of the Tour" list which has proved to be very popular.
Look for that later in the month. Congratulations to Delyth
from Wales who won last months competition from a record number
of entries. Catch up later in the week, Per
